What Can I Study?
Standard Programs
Southeastern University’s Associate of Arts (AA) degree is created for students seeking an advanced curriculum without a declared field of study. This two-year, online program consists of 62 credit hours, with 50* credit hours designated to Foundational Core studies, such as courses in general education, biblical studies, and faith integration. Students must also complete 12 credit hours of general electives. With an AA degree, students have the necessary knowledge to continue their education with an advanced degree or pursue jobs such as a junior designer, human resources assistant, marketing assistant, or administrative assistant. *The Foundational Core Program includes the core learning components commonly accepted as foundational for a four-year baccalaureate degree by many colleges and universities. However, many bachelor degrees require specific prerequisites. Students should verify how their AA degree and classes transfer into their intended degree.
Southeastern University's Associate of Ministerial Leadership is an online degree that allows students to develop their knowledge of theology, the Bible, spiritual development, church ministry, leadership principles, and ecclesiastical operations. Students satisfy the credentialing requirements of ordination through the Assemblies of God as part of the program. All courses are transferable into Southeastern’s Bachelor of Science in Ministerial Leadership.
The Bachelor of Science in Ministerial Leadership — Biblical Studies track (BSMLB) provides a broad, robust foundation in theology, the Bible, spiritual development, church ministry, leadership principles, and ecclesiastical operations. This online program is a total of 122 credit hours, including 56 credit hours for Foundational Core courses, 24 credit hours of general electives, and 42 credit hours of ministerial leadership core courses. The final 18 hours of the BSMLB major core focuses on advanced study, interpretation, and application of the Bible in the context of the local church.
The Bachelor of Science in Ministerial Leadership — Christian Ministry track (BSMLM) provides a broad, robust foundation in theology, the Bible, spiritual development, church ministry, leadership principles, and ecclesiastical operations. This online program is a total of 122 credit hours. Fifty-six credit hours are designated to Foundational Core education in addition to 24 credit hours of general electives and 42 credit hours of ministerial leadership core courses. The final 18 hours of the BSMLM major core focuses on key pastoral competencies: sharing the Christian faith, preaching, church leadership, spiritual formation, and pastoral care.
The online Bachelor of Science in Ministerial Leadership – Humanitarian Ministry track degree program prepares students for ministry leadership—in local churches, faith-based non-profit organizations, and other ministry contexts—through an interdisciplinary curriculum of courses in foundational core (i.e., English, psychology, math, science, etc.), Bible, theology, ministry, and ministry practicum. The final 18 hours of the major core focus on key competencies for humanitarian/compassion ministry leadership in domestic contexts: a practical theology of compassion ministry, understanding populations who are being impacted by disaster/poverty, effectively utilizing professional mental health resources in the context of crisis, and advocating for the poor/suffering through effective interactions with governmental decision-makers. Students who complete this degree program will be able to: - Properly use hermeneutical tools to exegete and apply the Bible in ministry contexts - Analyze and apply basic Christian theology in ministry contexts - Apply planning, team, and financial leadership skills in ministry contexts - Construct strategic plans for humanitarian/compassion work in various contexts - Integrate their biblical interpretation, theological, leadership, and biblical studies competencies in ministry contexts
The Bachelor of Science in Ministerial Leadership — Pastoral Care and Counseling track (BSMLP) provides a broad, robust foundation in theology, the Bible, spiritual development, church ministry, leadership principles, and ecclesiastical operations. This online program is a total of 122 credit hours: 56 credit hours for Foundational Core courses, 24 credit hours of general electives, and 42 credit hours of ministerial leadership core courses. The final 18 hours of the BSMLP major core is an interdisciplinary study in psychology, counseling, and pastoral care.
The Bachelor of Science in Ministerial Leadership — Worship Ministries track (BSMLW) provides a broad, robust foundation in theology, the Bible, spiritual development, church ministry, leadership principles, and ecclesiastical operations. This online program is a total of 122 credit hours: 56 credit hours for Foundational Core courses, 24 credit hours of general electives, and 42 credit hours of ministerial leadership core courses. The final 18 hours of the BSMLW focuses on preparing students to serve as worship pastors through studies in music theory, worship leadership, music composition, sound production, and music performance.
The Bachelor of Science in Business and Professional Leadership (BSBPL) degree is designed for working adults. It provides a combination of basic leadership theory and business managerial concepts to enable graduates to advance in their careers. This online program consists of 120 credit hours: 56 credit hours of general education courses, 37 credit hours of business and professional leadership courses, and 27 hours of general electives (or between 15 and 24 hours of practicum credit in ministry or the marketplace). While traditional business degrees prepare students for business and leadership careers, the BSBPL degree emphasizes the application of the soft-skills and the decision-making aspect of business to various professions.

Online Programs
The Bachelors of Science in Communication & Mass Media is an online degree intended for those seeking careers in journalism, public relations, social media marketing, public relations campaign management, and digital marketing. Students will learn to collect, convey, and edit information through print, documentaries, broadcast and online journalism, public relations, and advertising. This program is a total of 120 credit hours: 56 credit hours of Foundational Core courses, 25 credit hours of communication major core courses, and 24 credit hours of general electives. Students have the opportunity to refine how they communicate with international audiences though communication and photojournalism study abroad programs.
The Bachelor of Science in Digital Media & Design degree provides an overview of creative design and communication, including digital media, research and writing skills, digital design theory and application, marketing analytics, and web design. This online degree equips students to lead others and excel as a communicator, designer, and marketer. The program consists of 120 total credit hours: 56 credit hours of Foundational Core studies, 37 credit hours of major core courses, and 27 credit hours of general electives. The major core includes 19 credit hours of digital media core, 15 credit hours of digital design core, and three credit hours of digital media and design electives.
The Bachelor of Science in Human Services degree is ideal for students seeking careers that provide integrated services to individuals and families in need of assistance in settings that may include clinics, nursing homes, social services agencies, homeless shelters, substance abuse programs, and community organizations. This online degree consists of 121 credit hours total: 56 credit hours of Foundational Core courses, 36 credit hours of human services major core courses (which includes 6 credit hours of practicum), and 29 credit hours of general electives. Students will study topics such as case management, group development strategies, conflict resolution, research methods, program planning and evaluation, and how to integrate faith into their career. Please note: This is a non-clinical degree.
The Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree provides students with fundamentals in psychological and integration principles. Topics of study include personality, development, abnormal psychology, research methods, and more. Students will learn to incorporate their Christian faith into their work and prepare for paraprofessional fields that require a psychology or behavioral science degree. In addition, they will participate in supervised field experience and conduct and report empirical research in the field. This degree is also ideal for a student considering pursuing a master’s degree in a helping profession such as counseling. This online program is a total of 123 credit hours: 56 credit hours for Foundational Core courses, and 41 credit hours of psychology major core courses, 9 credit hours of psychology electives, and 17 credit hours of general electives.

Master's Programs
The Master of Arts in International Community Development (MICD) degree exposes students to the critical skills necessary for leading in the marketplace. This online program is a total of 36 credit hours and uses an interdisciplinary approach of business, human services, and Christian ministry courses. By attending 12 credit hours of each discipline and a one-week international practicum in El Salvador, students will learn how to make an impact through development and relief agencies, church ministries, international government, healthcare, philanthropy, education and more. This program is ideal for those working in helping professions. It does not, however, prepare students for state licensure as a clinical professional.
The Master of Arts in Ministerial Leadership: Leadership degree program enriches the work of ministry leaders—serving in local churches, faith based non-profit organizations, and a variety of other ministry contexts—through an interdisciplinary curriculum of theological studies, biblical studies, Christian formation, and ministry practices. The final 15 hours of the degree program emphasizes the application of general leadership, administrative leadership, conflict management, and strategic leadership practices in ministry contexts.
The Master of Arts in Ministerial Leadership: Ministry degree program enriches the work of ministry leaders—serving in local churches, faith based non-profit organizations, and a variety of other ministry contexts—through an interdisciplinary curriculum of theological studies, biblical studies, Christian formation, and ministry practices. The final 15 hours of the degree program emphasizes the application of preaching, leadership, pastoral care, and congregational leadership practices in ministry contexts.
Southeastern University’s Master of Arts (Theological Studies) degree is a 48 credit hour online program that provides a broad understanding of the systematic, historical, biblical, ethical, and practical theologies. Courses also cover how to interact critically with affirming and opposing theories. Graduates will gain sound theological education for church ministry or for teaching at secondary academies or at an undergraduate college level in the field of theological studies.
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program at Southeastern University prepares nurses to enhance their professional practice in a variety of settings. The program is designed specifically for working nurses and is delivered in a fully online classroom offering two concentration tracks. Each track will lead to new heights in both professional and personal development by providing the education and experience necessary to pursue advanced levels of nursing practice. Whether you are seeking opportunities in nursing administration or nursing education, SEU will equip you to make a difference in serving your community of interest – locally or globally. Our mission in nursing at SEU is to equip nurses to serve Christ and the world as competent professional nurses through Spirit-empowered ethical practice informed by critical thinking, life-long learning, and leadership. The MSN program is guided by a faculty of educators with years of professional experience and will provide you with the personalized direction and support necessary for your growth in the profession. The master’s degree program in nursing at Southeastern University is pursuing initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org). Applying for accreditation does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted. MSN: Nursing Education. This track prepares you to teach in either an academic or healthcare setting by giving you expertise in teaching strategies, curriculum design, and. In addition to the 12 hours of the MSN core curriculum, this track requires 20 hours of additional coursework (6 courses) and at least 200 practicum hours. The minimum GPA requirement is 3.0. Grades of less than C- will not be counted toward degree completion.
Southeastern University’s online MBA in Missional Leadership degree provides the knowledge necessary to excel as a strong theologian and the skills to minister to and pass that knowledge onto others. Through a challenging curriculum, you will study the methods for identifying and nurturing the leadership traits needed to transform a mission and its goals. You will also examine the issues of effective organizational outreach, including recruitment, motivation, communication, and implementation. Key topics covered by this program are global social entrepreneurship, leadership philosophy, leading across cultures, biblical preaching/teaching methods, managing change and conflict, interpersonal techniques/helping relations, Spirit-empowered discipleship and more. Graduates of this degree leave prepared to work in mission and rescue agencies, theological schools, and churches.
The Master of Science in Pastoral Care and Counseling degree uses theological principles and advanced counseling techniques to promote spiritual, emotional, physical and mental wholeness through Bible-based counseling and pastoral care. This online program consists of 36 credit hours, six of which are practicum courses. Note: Although the completion of this program may provide the credentials for career advancement within students’ church or private sector, it does not lead to state licensure as a clinical professional. Students are responsible for understanding their state’s pastoral counseling rules regarding a dispensation or exemption for clergy or those operating under the umbrella of a cognizable denomination or a church.
The M.S. in Professional Counseling is a 60-semester-hour degree that will academically prepare students to become licensed mental health counselors. Students will learn how to sensitively address the emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of hurting people while maintaining a commitment to professional practice and service. In an educational environment that promotes active learning through the use of role-plays, case studies, demonstrations, and discussions students will: Integrate Christian belief and practice with the scholarship and professional standards of the mental health field. Develop the skills necessary to provide competent, balanced, and professional counseling services. Develop critical thinking and analysis skills and the knowledge needed to make ethical decisions.
